Yellow card
The Yellow Card, officially called the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), is an official vaccination record created by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is a kind of ‘medical passport‘ that is recognized internationally and may be required for entry to certain countries where there are increased health risks for travelers. The Yellow Card should be kept in the holder’s passport.
What You Need To Know About the E-Yellow Card In Nigeria
The Nigerian Health Authorities have introduced the E-Yellow card to replace the old vaccination card for yellow fever. As from the 1st of April 2019, (and as of 2020, more airlines have become much stricter about it) the former card will be rendered invalid. The E-Yellow card is a mandatory requirement for all individuals traveling to and fro Nigeria to prevent the transmission or contacting of the disease.
What Is Yellow Fever?
According to World Health Organisation(WHO),
Yellow fever is an acute viral haemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. Symptoms of yellow fever include fever, headache, jaundice, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting and fatigue.
Who Should Get A Yellow Fever Vaccination?
A yellow fever vaccination card is required of all travelers who are above 9 months of age from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission and travelers going to countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
The vaccine is taken to protect travelers from contacting (and) or spreading yellow fever in their destination country.
From April 1st 2019, all old yellow fever cards will be rendered invalid.

AMERICAS – Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela.
Cost Of Yellow Fever Vaccine & Card
It costs 2,000 NGN to get the Vaccine and card.
Validity Of Certificate
The yellow fever card is valid 10 days after vaccination and is valid for life except there’s a need for re-vaccination
Vaccination Waiver
A vaccination waiver can be issued by your medical practitioner if the Yellow Fever vaccine is contraindicated for medical reasons. Although, problems may arise when crossing borders and the vaccination waiver may not be honoured.
Where Can I Get The Yellow Fever Vaccine?
Only registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centers like Passport Health can give the yellow fever vaccine and provide the International Certificate of Vaccination (“yellow card”) to travelers and other individuals. After receiving the vaccine at Passport Health you will receive an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) completed, signed and validated with the official stamp. The Port health office is located adjacent to Murtala Muhammed Airport Access plaza along the International Airport Road, Ikeja-Lagos.

How To Get The Yellow Fever Card
Visit this Website and take these steps to get a new yellow fever card
– Visit www.yellowcardnigeria.com
– Click on Register
– Fill the personal information form
– click on PAY NOW for immediate online payment or generate Remita Retrieval Receipt(RRR) to make payment at the bank
– Print your receipt and take along with you your international passport and proof of other vaccinations
– The vaccine will be administered & you’d obtain your E-yellow card
Note:
Countries may change their vaccination requirements without notice and in some instances border agents use their discretion to deny entry despite the officially stated requirements.
Whether vaccination is required for entry or not, be prepared to show a certificate of vaccination or a waiver stating the medical reasons for not being vaccinated
